I'd start by a good helmet. A helmet is something you really need to care about, don't go for the cheapest out there, if possible go for a known brand. There are some nice cheaper brands that, besides not being as good as Arai, Shoei, etc, they're really nice. I'd go for a CMS or a LS2. Next step, a nice jacket.
