Sure, the separate universes thing might be a bit annoying for RWS to write, but I ultimately believe that it would be better for the overall story. Fans of unserious/satire Postal can get their idea of Postal, and the horror fans can get their preferred Postal! Postal 1 had a better atmosphere, but I also like Postal 2 for having a nonsensical dark story. Obviously I love Postal 2, a lot, but 1 had a very unique atmosphere to it. It got me thinking.. what if RWS did both? Think about it, more serious games that expand upon 1, and then some unserious games that expand upon 2 and 4.
